Two Belarusian swimmers in top ten at 2017 FINA Swimming World Cup

Ilya Shimanovich. Photo from the archiveMINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Ilya Shimanovich and Pavel Sankovich of Belarus made it into the top ten of the total standings at the 2017 FINA Swimming World Cup, BelTA has learned.

The competitions, which kicked off in Moscow in August and included eight stages, completed in Singapore. Pavel Sankovich won gold in the men’s 50m backstroke event. Ilya Shimanovich touched in second in the men’s 50m breaststroke. Ilya Shimanovich placed eighth with 105 points in the total standings. Pavel Sankovich occupied the ninth position with 93 points. Chad le Clos of South Africa topped the standings with 447 points. The top three included Vladimir Morozov of Russia (333 points) and Kirill Prigoda of Russia (270 points).

Belarusian swimmers will next compete at the 2017 LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships in Copenhagen on 13-17 December.
