MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – Belarus is set to host the filming of around 80% of the series about Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. The matter was discussed at the meeting between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with Head of the Republic of Mordovia of the Russian Federation Artem Zdunov in Minsk on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

“Before I could even say a word, the president himself suggested: ‘Let’s make a film together’. Moreover, some 80% of the upcoming project (it is going to be a series) will be filmed right here on Belarusian soil, in Minsk. The film studio [Belarusfilm] is well-prepared technically, too. But most importantly, the historical events are directly tied to Belarus,” Artem Zdunov told journalists.

In the 1960s, the American Lee Harvey Oswald came to the Soviet Union and lived in Minsk for almost two and a half years, working as a lathe operator at the Lenin Minsk Radio Works.

Artem Zdunov also mentioned that the delegation of the Republic of Mordovia visited the Belarusfilm studio in Minsk, where they were shown the recent release Klassnaya. “You should have seen the room: people were almost crying. It brings up such good feelings. And it is because we share similar schools, the same kind of teachers, the same methodologies… It was important for us to take a look at our future partners. I have no doubts now,” the head of Mordovia said.
