Turkmenistan hosting Days of Belarusian Culture

MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Turkmenistan is hosting the Days of Culture of the Republic of Belarus from 6 through 12 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

The official opening of the Days of Culture will be held on 7 December. Its guests will be invited to enjoy performances by Belarusian cultural workers, including the dance company Khoroshki, the Pesnyary band, People’s Artists of Belarus Alexander Tikhonovich and Yadviga Poplavskaya, soloist of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, Honored Artist of Belarus Nina Sharubina, and Honored Artist of Belarus Alyona Lanskaya.

The Turkmen Museum of Fine Arts will house an exhibition of works of decorative and applied arts by Belarusian artists.

The Days of Poetry will help promote the Belarusian literature abroad. A set of books about the social, economic, and political life in Belarus, the country’s history and culture will be donated to the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan on 9 December. Renowned Belarusian poet and writer, member of the Belarusian Writers’ Union Ales Badak will meet with representatives of the Turkmen literary community to discuss ways to boost ties, matters related to translation of works into foreign languages, and others.

The Belarusian cultural delegation will also give a concert in the city of Turkmenabat on 9 December.

The program of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Turkmenistan features screenings of Belarusian films that will be held from 9 through 12 December.

A joint concert by Belarusian and Turkmen cultural workers will take place on 10 December.

The city of Ashkhabad will play host to a Belarusian national fair on 11 to 13 December. Its visitors will enjoy performances by Belarusian cultural workers and an exhibition of works of decorative and applied arts. Besides, they will be invited to attend workshops by Belarusian craftsmen and the screening of the documentary Belarus. 21st Century. On 12 December, Belarusian signer Alyona Lanskaya will take part in a concert to mark the 20th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan.
