Turkey to join Minsk festivals of national cultures

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – The number of participants of the Belarusian festivals of national cultures which are to take place in the Upper Town area in Minsk this summer has increased, head of the cultural department of the main office for ideological activity, culture and youth affairs Anna Shimanskaya told the media on 31 May, BelTA has learned.

Since 2015, Minsk has hosted as many as 29 festivals of national cultures representing 17 countries. This year’s summer music and tourist season will feature 16 festivals of the kind. “The Republic of Turkey has recently joined the program,” Anna Shimanskaya said.

“Organizing festivals of national cultures has become a good tradition. It is a unique opportunity for Minsk citizens and guests of the capital to get familiar with the traditions and customs of different countries,” Anna Shimanskaya said.

On 2 June, the Minsk Town Hall area will host a festival of Swedish culture. This season will also feature the festivals of national cultures of Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Moldova, Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Greece, the Republic of Korea, Italy, Armenia, and for the first time the UK and Estonia. Today's press conference was dedicated to the Great British Festival. Its organizers promise an extensive cultural and entertainment program, which will be held at 10 venues.

The summer music and tourist season kicked off in Minsk on 5 May with the traditional project Pedestrian Precinct. The Music Map of Minsk, which unified more than 200 musicians. A new area for children was opened in Karetny Dvorik that host concerts and entertainment programs on Saturdays. The season will also include reenactment events, Minsk Day, dancing master classes, Jazz Nights at the City Hall, Classics at the City Hall, and many more.
