Tokyo 2020: Belarus’ Yurenia into Men's Kayak Single 1000m Semi-final

TOKYO, 2 August (BelTA) – Aleh Yurenia of Belarus has made it to the Men's Kayak Single 1000m Semi-final in Tokyo, BelTA has learned.

The native of Grodno Oblast clocked 3:43.444, the best in his heat, to qualify for the Semi-final. Another athlete from the same heat, Bojan Zdelar of Serbia, also qualified for the Semi-final with 3:45.074. The Semi-finals are scheduled for 3 August.

The Tokyo Olympics kicked off on 23 July. As of 2 August, Belarus ranks 44th in the unofficial Olympic Medal Count with one gold and one bronze. China, the USA and Japan top the medal standings. The solemn closing ceremony is due on 8 August.
