Three more Belarusians to compete in Match Europe v USA

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Three more Belarusian athletes will make part of Team Europe at The Match Europe v USA which is due to take place at Minsk Dinamo Stadium on 9-10 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.

Belarusian athlete Vitali Parakhonka will replace Gregor Traber of Germany in 110m Hurdles. The athlete set his personal record of 13.40 seconds last year.

Katsiaryna Karniayenka will appear in the 3000m event. In winter the athlete set her personal record of 9:06.82. Currently her best result is 9:21.16.

Yuliya Karol, who made her comeback to sport after childbirth, will compete in the 800m event. The athlete is the winner of the Belarusian Athletics Championships. Her best result this summer was 2:03.12. The personal record she set in Rio was 2:01.09.

The Match Europe v USA is expected to feature some 350 athletes. 14 Belarusian athletes will make part of Team Europe. The competitions will include hammer throw, javelin throw, discus throw, 100 meters, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, 400m hurdles, 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters, 3,000 meters steeplechase, 4x100 meters relay, mixed relay (200-200-400-800 meters), shot put, triple jump, high jump, long jump, pole vault.

The total prize pot of the match is €818,000. The winner of the competition in each discipline will get €7,000, the silver medalist - €5,000, the bronze medalist - €4,000.

Eurovision Sport, which bought the broadcasting rights, will broadcast the match all over Europe. The match will be broadcast live on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold TV channels in the United States.
