MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - For 80.8% Belarusians, health is the most important thing in life, Sergei Musiyenko, head of the EcooM analytical center, said as he presented the results of the comprehensive nationwide sociological survey into Belarus’ social and economic development, BelTA has learned.
The head of the EcooM analytical center emphasized that the answer about health is far ahead by a huge margin. And this, in his words, is not a worry but an understanding of the importance of proper nutrition, sports, and the benefits of regular medical checkups. “It is gratifying that more than 80% understand this. Of course, one would like young people to understand it as early as possible,” he said.
Sergei Musiyenko drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian president pays enormous attention to school meals and deals with this personally, since it is the foundation of the nation’s health, and noted that it is hard to name a country where this issue receives such close attention.
The head of the EcooM analytical center also pointed to the high share of responses in favor of family. “It is gratifying that family and health are the main priority,” he said.
He noted that taken together, three things - peace of mind, self-fulfillment, and interesting work – garnered more than 60% of responses. “You will agree that peace of mind comes from interesting work and self-fulfillment,” Sergei Musiyenko commented.
According to the results of the nationwide sociological survey, 60.9% of Belarusians said that the most important thing in life is family; 45.7% - money and material prosperity; 39.1% - peace of mind and comfort; 15.6% - love; 12.3% - interesting work; 9.6% - self-fulfillment; 8.1% - knowledge and education; 8% - kindness and helping people; 5.4% - industriousness; 4.1% - religious faith; 3% - entertainment; and 2% - public recognition and high social status.
The Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus conducted the survey in July-August 2026 upon request of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR). It involved 2,045 respondents from all regions of the country. The first part of results of a comprehensive nationwide sociological survey that focuses on the key matters of social and economic development in Belarus was presented in Minsk on 10 September
