Students of Ostroshitsky Gorodok school visit elderly care home to wish Happy New Year

MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Students of the Ostroshitsky Gorodok secondary school gave a New Year’s concert for residents of the elderly care home, BelTA has learned.

Literally everyone, both elementary school kids and high school students, and also their teachers were involved in the preparation of the performance. The students performed numbers in a variety of genres: they sang the songs that are well-known to different generations of Belarusians, recited famous fables and monologues, played piano pieces and danced colorful dance numbers. Nikolai Lukashenko, the youngest son of the Belarusian president, was among the participants of the concert.

Traditionally, the students bring gifts when they visit the elderly care home they have been taking care for many years. This time the most unusual gift was two lionhead rabbits from the farm of the head of state. The rabbits got quickly accustomed to their new home as the new owners promised to surround them with care and attention. The children also gave the residents of the elderly care home sweets and honey from the farm of the head of state.

It is not the first time that the students of the Ostroshitsky Gorodok school have celebrated the New Year together with residents of the elderly care home. Their friendship started during a visit of the Belarusian president to this institution. Back then the residents were surprised by a performance staged by Nikolai Lukashenko's class

The family of the head of state always takes an active part in the big New Year Eve's charity marathon. This time the elder sons Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko together with their families, within the framework of the Our Children campaign, came to wish happy holidays to the family-type children's home of Rita and Sergei Kundikovs in Klichev and a shelter at the pedagogical center of Moskovsky District of Minsk.
