Staniouta wins four bronze medals in Bucharest

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Leader of the Belarusian rhythmic gymnastics team Melitina Staniouta claimed four bronze medals at the World Cup in Bucharest, Romania, BelTA has learned.

The All-Around event was won by Russia’s Yana Kudryavtseva with the total of 75,900 points. Second was fellow Russian Margarita Mamun (73,800). Melitina Staniouta scored 72,450 points (hoop - 17,500, ball - 18,400, clubs - 18,200, ribbon - 18,350) to finish in the third position. Anna Bozhko of Belarus was 16th with the total of 65,350 points.

In the Hoop and Ball events Belarus’ Melitina Staniouta was outpaced by Yana Kudryavtseva and Margarita Mamun. The Belarusian collected 18,000 points in the Hoop routine where her rivals scored 19,100 and 18,850 points respectively.

Yana Kudryavtseva grabbed the victory in the Ball final with the total of 19,100 points. Margarita Mamun was second with 18,800 points. Melitina Staniouta finished third (18,150). Four athletes graced the podium in the Ribbon event. Russia’s Yana Kudryavtseva and Alexandra Soldatova who scored 18,500 points each. Two bronze medals went to Melitina Staniouta and Azerbaijan’s Marina Durunda who collected 17,750 points apiece. The Clubs event medals went to Yana Kudryavtseva (18,950), Alexandra Soldatova (18,450) and Kseniya Moustafaeva (France, 17,850).

The 14th Irina Deleanu Cup was held as part of the World Cup in Bucharest. Belarusian junior Yelena Bolotina won the Ball event and took bronze medals in the Hoop and Ribbon routines.

The next leg of the World Cup will be held in Pesaro, Italy on 10-12 April. The other competitions of the season will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in May, Budapest, Hungary, Sofia, Bulgaria and Kazan, Russia in August 2015.
