Space explorers congress to gather delegates from over 30 countries in Belarus

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – The international congress of the Association of Space Explorers, which is scheduled for September 2018, will gather delegates from over 30 countries in Belarus, BelTA learned from Alexei Belotserkovsky, Head of the Smart Information Systems Department at the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), on 31 March.

According to the source, some 150 cosmonauts representing various regions — Europe, Asia, North America — will convene in Belarus.

The congress is expected to last for one week. Delegates will be invited to visit several institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and get familiar with the country’s accomplishments in space exploration. As part of the Community Day event famous cosmonauts and astronauts will arrange open lectures for the general public. “It will be interesting for scientists, school students, and university students. Plans have been made to invite people, who have just returned from outer space and can share their impressions,” said Alexei Belotserkovsky.

As a rule, famous cosmonauts and astronauts give their autographs during the congress. Famous cosmonauts are expected to plant a tree alley in Minsk during the forum.

Every year the international congress of the Association of Space Explorers gathers together prominent cosmonauts and astronauts, representatives of research institutions, and national space agencies. A flag for the Association of Space Explorers has already been made in Belarus as part of preparations for hosting the congress.

The Association of Space Explorers is an international not-for-profit organization that unites cosmonauts and astronauts from many countries. It was established in 1985 to share the best practices in the area of manned space flights.
