Space alley to be laid in Minsk in 2018

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – A space alley will be laid in Belarus during the Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers (ASE) in 2018, head of the intellectual information systems department of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Aleksei Belotserkovsky told the media on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

“The place for space alley has not been yet determined. There are two proposals: Chelyuskintsev Park and the Botanic Garden in Minsk. Each cosmonaut will plant a tree, most likely, a birch. Some trees have already been planted near the Borovaya airfield. There will be a big space alley in 2018,” Aleksei Belotserkovsky said.

The 31st ASE Planetary Congress will take place in Belarus in September 2018. The program of the event is under development. It is expected that the congress will last for a week and its events will be held in different regions of the country.

Every year the ASE Planetary Congress gathers outstanding cosmonauts and astronauts, representatives of research institutions and national space agencies.

Founded in 1985, the Association of Space Explorers (ASE) is an international nonprofit professional and educational organization that unites flown astronauts and cosmonauts from different countries.
