MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Anton Smolski of Belarus won the pursuit at the third leg of the Commonwealth Cup in Chaykovsky, Perm Krai, BelTA has learned.
Fifty-seven biathletes participated in the men’s pursuit. Anton Smolski began the 12.5km distance in sixth place, 45 seconds behind the leader. At the four shooting ranges, Anton did not miss a single target. After the first prone shooting, the Belarusian moved up to third place; before the final standing shooting, he advanced to second, and he entered the final lap already in first. Anton Smolski ultimately finished 27 seconds ahead of the Russian silver medalist, Daniil Serokhvostov. Eduard Latypov rounded out the top three.
With this victory, Anton has strengthened his lead in the overall Commonwealth Cup standings. A total of seven Belarusians started in Saturday’s pursuit. Stsiapan Danilau finished 19th, Mikita Labastau placed 29th, Maksim Varabei finished 46th, Gleb Orlovsky 49th, Ivan Tulatsin 52nd, and Aleksandr Golyak 53rd.
