Shymanovich reaches round of 16 at 2026 Open de Rouen

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Iryna Shymanovich (world No. 184) has advanced to the second round of the 2026 Open de Rouen tournament in France, with a prize fund of $283,000, BelTA has learned.

In the round of 32 on 14 April, the Belarusian defeated Linda Fruhvirtova of Czechia (No. 143) in two sets, 6-3, 7-5, in an hour and a half. In the round of 16, Shymanovich will face the winner of the match between American Hailey Baptiste (No. 35) and French Jessika Ponchet (No. 170). The Belarusian reached the main draw of the competition after securing two victories in qualifying.

In the first round of the 2026 Stuttgart Open in Germany, with a prize fund of $1.2 million, Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (No. 111) lost to Czech world No. 7 Karolina Muchova, 2-6, 4-6. In the round of 16, the Czech will face the winner of the match between Belgian Elise Mertens (No. 20) and German Ella Seidel (No. 87). Sasnovich reached the main draw of this tournament through qualifying, defeating German Julia Stusek, 6-1, 6-4, and French Océane Dodin, 6-1, 6-1. Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka has reached the final of this competition four times and lost on each occasion. In 2025, she lost to Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.

The competitions in Germany and France will conclude on 19 April.
