MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - Belarusian tennis player Aliaksandra Sasnovich won her opening match at the WTA 125 tournament in Paris with a prize pool of $115,000, BelTA has learned.
In the first‑round match the Belarusian, ranked 120th in the world, defeated Australian Talia Gibson, ranked (world No. 62), in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes. In the 2nd round, Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez (world No. 23) and Russian Anna Blinkova (world No. 97).
In 2025, Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the semi‑finals in Paris, where she lost to French player Chloe Paquet. Chloe Paquet then lost to British player Katie Boulter in the final. This year’s tournament in Paris will conclude on 17 May.
