Sabalenka remains world number one after Wimbledon

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka continues to lead the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings following the conclusion of Wimbledon, BelTA has learned.

On the grass courts of Wimbledon, Sabalenka won three matches before losing in the round of 16 to Japan’s Naomi Osaka. Sabalenka now has a total of 8,550 points. The newly crowned Grand Slam champion, Linda Noskova of Czechia, climbed to the 7th position. Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova, another Czech tennis player, occupies the 6th spot. Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich is in 143rd place, while Iryna Shymanovich sits at world No. 203.

Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner of Italy tops the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, while finalist Alexander Zverev of Germany has moved up to second place, and Carlos Alcaraz of Spain holds the third spot. The highest-ranked Belarusian tennis player, Daniil Ostapenkov, occupies the 536th position.
