Sabalenka reaches 2025 Cincinnati Open quarterfinal

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka has secured her spot in the 2025 Cincinnati Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian defeated Spain's world number 42 Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, 6-1, 7-5, in Round of 16. The match lasted for an hour and 20 minutes. Earlier in the tournament, Aryna Sabalenka overcame World No.59 Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic, 7-5, 6-1, and then secured a hard-fought three-set victory against World No.39 Emma Raducanu of the UK, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5). In the quarterfinal, the Belarusian will face Kazakhstan's world number 10 Elena Rybakina.

In the 2024 Cincinnati Open final Aryna Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula to claim the title. Victoria Azarenka of Belarus won the event in 2013 and 2020.

The current edition will be over on 18 August. Its winner will earn $752,200 and 1,000 points.
