MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka continues to lead the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, BelTA has learned.
Following her second consecutive victory at the Brisbane tournament, the world’s number one tennis player now holds 10,990 ranking points. Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk, a finalist at the tournament, has risen from 26th to 20th place. As for other Belarusian athletes, Aliaksandra Sasnovich improved from 113th to 102nd, while Victoria Azarenka is currently ranked 148th and Iryna Shymanovich is 153rd.
The top 10 of the updated WTA rankings are as follows:
1. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) – 10,990 points
2. Iga Świątek (Poland) – 8,328
3. Coco Gauff (USA) – 6,423
4. Amanda Anisimova (USA) – 6,320
5. Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – 5,850
6. Jessica Pegula (USA) – 5,453
7. Jasmine Paolini (Italy) – 4,267
8. Mirra Andreeva (Russia) – 4,232
9. Madison Keys (USA) – 4,003
10. Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) – 3,512.
In the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz retains the top position. Italian Jannik Sinner holds second place, while Germany’s Alexander Zverev is third. The highest-ranked Belarusian player, Erik Arutyunyan, is currently in 430th place.
