Sabalenka 7th in WTA

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus climbed to the 7th position in the recently published WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian raised one spot after reaching the 2021 Miami Open quarterfinal, with the total of 5,085 points.

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus reached the round of Last 16 in Miami and remained 15th in the WTA with 3,625 points. Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich goes 94th with 878 points, Olga Govortsova is 138th with 588 points, Vera Lapko sits 287th with 228 points.

2. Naomi Osaka (Japan) – 7,985
3. Simona Halep (Romania) – 6,965 
4. Sofia Kenin (United States) – 5,915
5. Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – 5,750

Egor Gerasimov goes 80th (936 points) in the ATP rankings. Ilya Ivashka is 115th with 673 points, Uladzimir Ignatik is 353rd with 129 points. Egor Gerasimov is expected to play in Cagliari, Italy this week. He will open against Argentine’s world number 48 Guido Pella. At the tournament in Spain’s Marbella Ilya Ivashka will face Spain’s world number 100 Pedro Martinez.
