Russia wins Junior Eurovision 2017, Belarus 5th

TBILISI, 27 November (BelTA) – The Junior Eurovision 2017 was won by Polina Bogusevich from Russia. Belarus’ Helena Meraai placed 5th, BelTA has learned.

Polina was born in Moscow in July 2003. She is a student of the Academy of Popular Music of Igor Krutoy. In 2014 Polina took part in the first season of the Voice. Children project, where she performed as part of Dima Bilan’s team. She is the winner of numerous competitions and the holder of the diploma of the first degree of the international vocal competition San Remo for children and teenagers (2015).

Polina Bogusevich triumphed at the Junior Eurovision 2017 with the song Wings.

Following the vote of the national jury and internet users the Russian representative scored 188 points. The top three also included Georgia (185) and Australia (172).

5. Belarus – Helena Meraai (149);

6. Armenia – Misha (148);

7. Ukraine – Anastasiya Baginska (147);

8. Poland – Alicja Rega (138);

9. Malta – Gianluca Cilia (107);

10. Serbia – Irina Brodic and Jana Paunovic (92);

11. Italy – Maria Iside Fiore (86);

12. Macedonia – Mina Blazev (69);

13. Albania – Ana Kodra (67);

14. Portugal – Mariana Venancio (54);

15. Ireland – Muireann McDonnell (54);

16. Cyprus – Nicole Nicolaou (45).

Russia got the highest 12 points from the national jury of four countries: Portugal, Macedonia, Georgia, and Australia. Belarus’ Helena Meraai received 12 points from the jury of Malta. Belarus gave its 12 points to Georgia. The host country also got 12 points from the jury of Armenia, Albania, Poland, Ukraine and Russia.

Polina Bogusevich brought Russia its second victory at the Junior Eurovision. In 2006 the Tolmachevy sisters won the contest with the song Spring Jazz.

The 2018 Junior Eurovision song contest will be held in Minsk, Belarus.
