Raubichi to host Belarus national leg of World Children's Winners Games on 16-19 May

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – The 2nd national stage of the World Children’s Winners Games will bring together more than 50 children from all over Belarus in Raubichi on 16-19 May, BelTA learned from the organizers of the event.

The World Children's Winners Games are sports competitions for young cancer survivors. The games have been annually held in Moscow since 2010. This year, Belarus will organize a national qualifying leg for the second time.

For two days, children and teenagers aged 10-17 will compete in track, swimming, table tennis, football, and chess. On 18 May, they will pass the baton to their parents and famous guests. TV hosts Yevgeny Bulka and Ilya Kononov, athlete and showman Pavel Syroyezhkin and others will take part in the competition and show that it is support and mutual help that matter both in sports and in life.

During the games, the Raubichi sports center will become a summer camp of sorts. Young athletes will be divided into groups led by counselors to participate in games and concerts, make new friends. This year’s program also includes master-classes. “Every participant is already a winner as they all have defeated the disease,” the organizers said. “Our aim is to help them find their vocation and fulfill their potential. This year, the Game Stream company will hold a beginner’s master-class in IT. Handicraft masters and gingerbread painters will also give master-classes. Young participants' parents will be able to visit a master-class in health and beauty,” the organizers added.

Belarus’ national leg of the World Children's Winners Games has been organized by the Touch of Life charity fund with assistance of Belarus’ Sport and Tourism Ministry and Rotary Club Minsk.
