Pyotr Klimuk to attend ASE Planetary Congress in Minsk

MINSK, 25 July (BelTA) – USSR pilot-cosmonaut, native of Belarus Pyotr Klimuk will take part in the the 31st Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers due in Minsk on 9-15 September. “Previously I took part in congresses, was directly involved in their organization. In recent years, I have been engaged in other activities and have not been to the congresses for a while. But this year, of course, I will be in attendance,” Pyotr Klimuk told the media.

Today Pyotr Klimuk was awarded the diploma of Honorary Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. “In Russia I have received many different diplomas. But I am a Belarusian. I was born here, and I am very honored to receive such a title from the NASB. It is a great honor,” Pyotr Klimuk noted.

Pyotr Klimuk is a cosmonaut, famous scientist, Doctor of Engineering Science, Member of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, Academician of the International Academy of Informatics, corresponding member of International Academy of Astronautics. He was unanimously elected Honorary Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus at the general meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 16 November 2017.

The Association of Space Explorers is an international not-for-profit organization that unites cosmonauts and astronauts from many countries. It was established in 1985 to share the best practices in the area of manned space flights. The Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers gathers cosmonauts and representatives of scientific research institutions and national space agencies on an annual basis.
