Plans to hold six press tours to regions of Belarus, Russia in 2017

MOSCOW, 31 March (BelTA) – The Standing Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State plans to hold six press tours to the regions of Belarus and Russia in 2017, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota said during the Moscow-Minsk video conference on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

Grigory Rapota specified that Belarus and Russia will host three press tours each. The itineraries for some of the tours have already been developed. For instance, members of the media will visit Brest, Tula and Vologda. The tours will have a special focus on economy, tourism and environment.

As for the other tours, Grigory Rapota said it is possible that Belarusian and Russian journalists will be invited to visit Sakhalin. “This region has started to actively develop cooperation with Belarus. A project is underway there to set up a breeding center with the help of Belarusian specialists. Sakhalin buys Belarusian vehicles and equipment. Besides, we already have an invitation from the governor,” he noted.

Grigory Rapota said that the cooperation between the regions of Belarus and Russia first of all benefits the regions themselves. He emphasized that in this respect, the regions have the freedom to make all decisions independently.

Grigory Rapota added that thanks to such cooperation, several regions of Russia now have plants that assemble Belarusian vehicles, provide maintenance and organize the supply of vehicle parts. Besides, Belarusian construction specialists are building homes and other structures in Russia’s regions.
