Plans to Belarus-China joint educational institution

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – The prospects of setting up a Belarusian-Chinese educational institution at the Belarusian State University (BSU) are discussed at the international conference on the development of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in higher education as part of the Belt and Road project, BelTA has learned.

The conference gathered about 100 heads of the Belarusian universities, representatives of the government bodies, and the academic staff of Chinese universities. The agenda includes issues related to the setting up of Belarsuian-Chinese companies, including educational institutions, to train specialists for the promising sectors of the national economies and the implementation of joint projects such as the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone. “Today, we are going to discuss the possibility of creating a joint educational institution at the Belarusian State University together with the Dalian Polytechnic University,” Anatoly Tozik, Director of Confucius Institute, told the media before the conference.

During the conference, specialists will conduct a comparative analysis of the education systems of Belarus and China in order to exchange best practices. We are talking about the introduction of modern promising forms of education, developing cooperation between universities to provide scientific and information support for the entire Belarusian-Chinese cooperation. Belarus and China have accumulated considerable potential, but in order to implement it, quality scientific support is needed. "This function should be taken upon by universities,” Anatoly Tozik said.

Another topic for detailed consideration at the conference is the commercialization of research results of the universities. Belarus and China have some experience in this area, which experts plan to compare.

A total of 14 thematic reports are planned to be considered at the plenary session of the conference. The forum is expected to result in the development of recommendations on the development of partnership relations between Belarus and China in education and scientific activity.

The conference was organized by the National Institute of Higher Education, Confucius Institute of the Belarusian State University, and Dalian Polytechnic University.
