MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – More than 500 events will be held as part of the 27th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair, Belarus Information Minister Aleksandr Karlyukevich told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“The total number of events to take place as part of the 27th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair will be around 500. More than 300 of them will be held at the main venue at 14 Pobediteley Avenue. Other events will also take place in various venues across the city: book stores, the National History Museum, the National Library of Belarus, and other libraries, including university libraries, for example, the library of the Belarusian National Technical University. The events will feature authors and publishers who will speak about their new projects,” Aleksandr Karlyukevich noted.

The fair will be held under the slogan “Belarus is an Open Book”. The Belarusian national stand will highlight such themes as the Year of Native Land and the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“There are a lot of books that saw the light of day in late 2019 and early 2020 and are dedicated to the history and the development of education in Belarus. They include books about the dramatic events of the Great Patriotic War by the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House: photo-books and reference books that tell about representatives of various nations who liberated Belarus or fought in the Belarusian territory during the Nazi occupation, who helped our people survive, withstand, and fight back,” Aleksandr Karlyukevich noted. “The second group includes books timed to the Year of Native Land and books on local history. I would like to mention the book series ‘The Journey Across the Native Land’ by the publishing house Belarus. Another fascinating book – ‘The Flowery Land of Belarus’ – was published quite recently by the Yakub Kolas Printing and Publishing House. I believe that these books will attract interest of the audience,” he added.

The 27th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair will be running in the exhibition complex at 14 Pobediteley Avenue on 5-9 February. The fair will bring together more than 300 exhibitors from 30 countries.
