Over 40,000 visitors attend 23rd Minsk Book Fair

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Over 40,000 guests attended the 23rd Minsk International Book Fair, First Deputy Information Minister of Belarus Igor Lutsky said at the closing ceremony of the forum on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition featured more than 200 events. These were meetings with writers, presentations, the 2nd International Symposium of Writers and many others.

The Year of Culture and remarkable dates were the key themes of the 23rd Minsk International Book Fair. The organizers of the forum are confident that the events to mark the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian boon printing, the 400th anniversary since the death of William Shakespeare, the anniversaries of Maxim Bogdanovich, Ivan Shamyakin, Kondrat Krapiva, Ivan Melezh, Vladimir Mulyavin in 2016 will feature meetings with writers and the presentation of good books.

According to Chairman of the Union of Writers Nikolai Cherginets, Belarus is a country where big attention is paid to spiritual culture. It is proved by the organization of the Year of Culture, the Year of Youth, and the Year of Book. Spirituality is the basis on which the world is built, he stressed.

The 23rd Minsk International Book Fair was held on 10-14 February. The exposition of the participants from 29 countries was held at the Belexpo Center. The forum was organized by the Information Ministry and the Minsk City Hall.
