Over 1,100 foreigners visit Great Patriotic War Museum during 2nd European Games in Minsk

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History welcomed more than 1,100 foreign visitors since the start of the 2nd European Games, BelTA learned from deputy head of the museum’s development department Yelena Semashko.

“On 21-27 June, 1,173 foreigners visited the museum, this is 167 tourists a day. Third of them used an audio guide and services of a museum guide. Those were tourists from Azerbaijan, England, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Germany, Hong Kong, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Ireland, China, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Tajikistan, Ukraine, France, Sweden, and Japan," Yelena Semashko said.

According to her, the number of foreign visitors has increased considerably over this period. “We see a genuine interest of foreign visitors in the museum’s exposition. Our largest hall, The Road of War, is particularly impressive. It presents samples of weapons and equipment from the Great Patriotic War period. Foreign visitors also spend a lot of time in the halls dedicated to the partisan movement and the anti-fascist underground. They study self-made partisan weapons and make a lot of photos near the installations. We are also happy to see tourists’ impressions of the Victory Hall that symbolically completes the exposition, combining fame and memory of the heroism of our people,” Yelena Semashko said.
