MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – The international exhibition “Salvador Dali” will be opened in the National Art Museum on 16 March, BelTA has learned from the museum.

The exhibition will feature over 100 works of sculpture, graphics, and jewelery created by one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.

“All the items are part of the Dali Universe collection which is said to be one of the largest private collections of Salvador Dali’s sculptural and decorative art. The founder of the collection and the president of the Salvador Dali company is Beniamino Levi, an Italian art dealer and collector who worked with the renowned Spanish artist in the 1960s. It was then that he started his collection with a special focus on three-dimensional items. He is a recognized expert in Salvador Dali’s bronze works,” said Olga Kletskina, head of international exhibitions at the exhibition department of the National Art museum, the project curator.

The works from this collection have been displayed in over 100 prestigious museums and have attracted the audience of over 12 million people all over the world. This unusual collection focuses on Dali’s sculptural work which is not known to the world at large.

Salvador Dali is the most famous surrealist artist. Surrealism was reflected in all kinds of his art: painting, sculpture, design, graphics, cinema, and fashion. “Salvador Dali applied the concept of surrealism to everything he said or did. His courage and rebellious attitude to art made him distinct from others and let him create several of the most renowned and recognized works of the 20th century. Even 30 years after his death we see the influence of his art practically everywhere in the world. Salvador Dali’s name is a wonder and remains an iconic name for modern art,” Olga Kletskina said.

The exhibition “Salvador Dali” is one of the events timed to the 80th anniversary of the Belarusian National Art Museum and will stay open till 30 June.
