Non-competitive sections of Listapad 2019 film festival presented in Minsk

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – The non-competitive program of feature films and documentaries of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2019 were presented at the press conference on 15 October, BelTA has learned.

The 26th edition of the festival will be held on 1-8 November 2019 under the slogan “To Joy”.

Belarusian First Deputy Culture Minister Natalya Karchevskaya expressed confidence that participants and viewers will “witness a large-scale cultural event, see new films and discover new names”. “I wish that the 26th edition of the festival will mark the beginning of a new way. We see a symbol of a road on the festival’s logo, and this is not a halt, but an urge to move on, because this movement will take us to the joy of discovering ourselves and people around,” she added.

“I hope that we will really move towards joy and discover and comprehend our world,” Listapad's program director Igor Sukmanov said as he presented the non-competition films.

Six sections of the non-competitive program of feature films are titled Special Screenings, Master Class, Lions Bears Palm Branches, Midnight Passion, Once Upon A Time in the East, Russian Premieres. These sections encompass 20 films shot in Canada, Belarus, Philippines, France, China, Japan, Belgium, Norway, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Russia and other countries.

The non-competitive documentary film program will be presented in such sections as Laureates of Festivals, My Family and Other Animals, About Love, Evening of Polish Documentaries, Cinema About Cinema, MusicDoc, History Chronicles, Film Archive. Films That Could Never Happen. This program will show 26 films made in different parts of the world.

There will also be a program incorporating both documentary and feature films. This program encompasses 21 films that will be screened on the sidelines of the festival. They will be grouped into the following sections: Artstream, Five Minutes to Oscar, Women’s Stories, Cinema Language Another Syntax.

The founders of the festival are the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Minsk City Hall. The organizer is Visual and Performing Arts Center Art Corporation.
