MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) -  Maksim Nedasekau of Belarus won the gold medal at the European Under-23 Championships in Gavle, Sweden, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian cleared 2.29m in the high jump to win the champion’s title. Tom Gale of the United Kingdom settled for silver with a 2.27m clearance. Polish Norbert Kobelski was third with 2.23 m.

“At some point I was certain that I was second. When the judges ordered the British to repeat the jump I decided not to miss the last chance and gave it all,” the Belarusian said.
