Moscow to host events to mark Year of Culture in Belarus

MOSCOW, 26 January (BelTA) – A number of events will be held in Moscow in 2016 to celebrate the Year of Culture in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko told journalists, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat said that the concert of the Belarusian band Pesnyary held on 26 January to mark the 75th anniversary of the birth of the band’s founder Vladimir Mulyavin was the first event organized in Moscow within the framework of the Year of Culture celebrations.

There are plans to hold Belarusian Seasons at the Business and Culture Center at the Embassy of Belarus in Russia in June. The program of the event will include an exhibition of Belarusian folk music instruments from the holdings of the National History Museum of Belarus, the production Eternal Song of the National Belarusian Drama Theater, a concert of the band Classic-Avantgarde, the production Twelfth Night of the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater, and a concert of the folk band Byaseda.

Besides, Moscow events calendar for 2016 features concerts of the bands Syabry, Khoroshki, the Song Theater Studio of Irina Dorofeyeva, and an evening of opera music by the National Center for Contemporary Arts. Events will be held to mark the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, the Victory Day, the Independence Day and others.

The preparations for the celebration of the birthdays of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas will begin in 2016.
