Mogilev Open Competitions to gather gymnasts from four countries

MOGILEV, 7 April (BelTA) – The 15th Open Artistic Gymnastics Competitions for the Prizes of Olympic champion Svetlana Baitova will take place in Mogilev on 8-10 April. The event will mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learnt from the Mogilev Olympic Reserve School Bagima.

Young athletes from Belgorod (Russia), Liepaja (Latvia), Donetsk (Ukraine) and several cities of Belarus, a total of nearly 100 gymnasts aged 8-18, will take part in the competitions.

“The victory at the competitions will become for some its participants a pass to the national team and an opportunity to take part in prestigious international competitions,” the organizers of the forum said.

Svetlana Baitova is an honored master of sports, the champion of the 24th Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, the 1987 World Champion and the 1986 USSR Champion, the Honorary Citizen of Mogilev.

Among the organizers of the competitions is the Mogilev Oblast Sport and Tourism Department, the Mogilev Department of Education, Sport and Tourism and the Mogilev Olympic Reserve School Bagima.
