Minsk to mark Victory in Great Patriotic War with forum on 27-29 April

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – An international victors’ forum Great Victory Gained by Unity: Fight at Belarusian Fronts will take place in Minsk on 27-29 April, BelTA learnt from the organizers.

Attending the forum will be war veterans, Union State officials, representatives of the CIS government bodies, experts and scientists, mass media, leaders of youth organizations from the CIS, Baltic states and Georgia.

The forum will start with a ceremony of laying a commemorative wreath from delegations at the Eternal Light in Victory Square in Minsk. The program of the forum will include a visit to the All Saints Memorial Church in Minsk and the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.

The major events of the forum on 28 April will include a plenary session and themed sections. Participants will discuss issues related to the Great Patriotic War in the modern historical studies, the role of searching operations in preserving the common memory about the Great Patriotic War, public initiatives in the CIS, the image of the Great Patriotic War in modern mass media. Participants of the forum are expected to adopt a resolution. The event will be wrapped up with a concert program.

The forum is organized by the politological center North-South and the development fund Institute of Eurasian Studies under the auspices of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Russian organization Knowledge. The main objective of the event is to preserve the memory about the victory in the Great Patriotic War as the most important historical event uniting the peoples of the former Soviet Union.
