Minsk to host three film exhibitions ahead of Listapad 2016

MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) - Ahead of Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2016 the Belarusian capital will play host to three exhibitions related to cinematography: Janis Streics: Films, People, Epoch; Andrzej Wajda’s Films on the World Film Poster, and Time of Silent Stars. From Black-and-White to Red, organizers told BelTA.

The exhibition entitled as Janis Streics: Films, People, Epoch, dedicated to one of the Guests of Honor of the festival, Latvian filmmaker Janis Streics, will open at the Belarusian Film History Museum on 3 November. Janis Streics has made 22 films and written a lot of screenplays, has played in films himself. The exposition will feature the peculiarities of Janis Streics’ film language, the process of his filmmaking, his favorite actors and his own roles. The exhibition, which is to run through 11 December, will include a retrospective of seven Janis Streics’ films, prepared by the National Film Center of Latvia.

The project was developed by the Riga Film Museum of the Latvian Academy of Culture in cooperation with the Ekran Company and financial support from the Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia and the Riga Duma. The exhibition in Minsk will be held as part of the program of cooperation between the Culture Ministry of Latvia and the Culture Ministry of Belarus for 2016-2018.

On 2-11 November the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery will host the exhibition Andrzej Wajda’s Films on the World Film Poster. The posters collected in the Lodz Museum of Cinematography will display the art of film posters of the 20th century.

The exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Minsk City Hall, the Minsk History Museum, the Lodz Museum of Cinematography and the Polish Institute in Minsk.

The official program of Listapad Film Festival 2016 will also include the exposition titled as Time of Silent Stars. From Black-and-White to Red that will tell the story of the development of cinematography in Belarus.

Visitors of the exhibition will be invited to watch silent films starring Asta Nielsen, Pola Negri, Vera Kholodnaya, Buster Keaton, see Belgosfilm movies and reprints of the books of the 1920s.

The exhibition will stay open from 6 November through 15 January at the National History Museum of Belarus. The exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Naitonal History Museum, the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, the embassies of Lithuania and the United States and Samsung Belarus Company.

The 23rd edition of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will be held under the motto “Towards Inspiration” on 4-11 November. The organizers are the center of visual and performing arts ART Corporation. The festival was founded by the Culture Ministry and Minsk City Hall with the participation of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, National Film Studio Belarusfilm, and Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
