MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – Students from five countries will take part in Sciteen 2019 science competition that will take place in Minsk on 8-14 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences (NASB).

“3D printing of medicines, cultured meat, a platform to find missing people, development of a bionic eye and a Tesla for the mining industry – these are just some of the ideas to be discussed at the National Academy of Sciences during the tournament. Students from the best universities of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France will gather in Minsk to present and discuss their ideas that are meant to facilitate progress across various fields of science and the manufacturing industry,” the press service informed.

This year the competition will be held for the fifth time already. It is organized by the NASB and Belarusian State University. Over 100 students representing 20 universities from five countries submitted their applications. The shortlisted candidates will arrive in Minsk for the next stage of the competition.

Sciteen is a team competition for undergraduate and post-graduate students. They will be asked to offer their vision of resolving issues facing science and the manufacturing sector at the confluence of several academic disciplines: physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, environmental protection, information technology, etc. The participants will present their research projects on a designed topic to the public and will discuss them with their peers from other universities and countries. The jury will include scientists and university staff from the leading research institutions and universities of various countries as well as representatives of the tech companies that support this event.
