Minsk to host French Film Weekend 24-26 March

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian capital Minsk will host the French Film Weekend on 24-26 March, BelTA learned from the Embassy of France in Belarus.

The event will be held as part of the Francophone Days in Belarus in cooperation with the French diplomatic mission and the Swiss Embassy office in Minsk. Films will be screened in Raketa Cinema House. The Weekend program will open with the Swiss-French stop motion animated comedy-drama film My Life as a Zucchini, shortlisted for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards and winning two Cesar awards for the Best Animated Film and the Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

The program will also feature Sophie's Misfortunes, a screen adaptation of the popular children’s novel by the 19th-century writer Countess of Segur, and Phantom Boy, the animated film created by Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol at the famous French studio Folimage.

Minskers will also see Philippe Garrel’s drama In the Shadow of Women and Mia Hansen-Love’s Eden.
