Minsk to host CIS film forum 21-23 September

Minsk to host CIS film forum 21-23 SeptemberMINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The CIS international film forum Minsk 2017 will take place in the Belarusian capital on 21-23 September, BelTA has learned.

The forum will feature the films of 2015-2017 released in the CIS member states, including Russia’s After You, premiere of 2017 Hostages (Georgia), Traces on Water (Belarus), the joint Russian-Armenian film Earthquake, debut works by young producers such as The Monskey’s Dream (Tajikistan) and others. The film forum will be held at the cultural and business center House of Moscow in Minsk. The festival will organize a special screening of the Russian film Viking in Polotsk to mark the city’s 1155th birthday.

Sergei Bezrukov and Anna Matison, Sarik and Gevond Andreasyan, Artyom Kuren and others will bring their works to Minsk. Attending the forum will be Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov and Special President’s Representative on International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi.

According to Boris Svetlov, the film forum will invite the audience to get familiar with the best art achievements of the CIS member states, promote experience sharing in the film industry, preserve traditions and advance the contemporary cinematography.

The goal of the international film forum is to popularize and celebrate the best CIS film forums, promote the development of the common cultural and cinematography space between the CIS member states, continue the cultural dialogue in the film industry and create favorable conditions to search for new distribution channels and establish ties between representatives of the CIS film industry for experience sharing and potential creative cooperation.

The international film forum Minsk 2017 is organized by GPM KIT and Central Partnership Company, making part of the Gazprom Media Holding, under the auspices of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
