Minsk to host Belarus-Russia Union State contest of best youth energy projects

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The best youth energy projects of the Belarus-Russia Union State will be announced in Minsk at the 6th forum of the Union State engineering and technology universities headlined Global Energy: Partnership of Countries and Technologies in the Context of Sustainable Development and Climate Protection, BelTA has learned.

The forum, which will run at the Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk till 27 October, will see a business battle. The event will bring together around 250 young participants from Belarus and Russia, who are to present a total of 50 projects. The jury panel comprising entrepreneurs, investors, and scientists will select the best projects.

The forum kicked off at the Belarusian National Technical University on 24 October. The university’s First Prorector Georgy Vershina told the media that the past five installments helped Belarusian and Russian engineering and technology universities establish a close partnership and exchange students and faculty members.

This year’s forum has gathered young scientists and specialists, undergraduates, master’s degree students, and postgraduates as well as prominent scientists, graduates of the Belarusian National Technical University from Algeria, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia. Big-name scientists from the CIS and non-CIS countries are to give lectures on energy, energy and environmental security, and climate protection. The participants will discuss prospects of education in nuclear energy. They are also expected to introduce their scientific solutions in energy industry.

The business battle “Best Youth Innovative Project of the Union State” was first held in 2013. It aims to promote youth innovative entrepreneurship. The forum is held under the auspices of the Union State Standing Committee, Belarus’ Education Ministry, and Russia’s Ministry of Education and Science.
