Minsk to host Belarus Fashion Forum on 16-17 November

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - Belarus Fashion Forum will be held in Minsk on 16-17 November, head of the Belarusian Fashion Chamber Yanina Goncharova told a press conference, BelTA has learned.

This year, Belarus Fashion Week (7-11 November) will be followed by Belarus Fashion Forum (16-17 November). In previous years this international educational forum was called Fashion is my Profession. “We invite successful professionals from different European countries who can share experience with Belarusian designers and manufacturers, give tips on how to advance to the EU market. In order to branch out into the European market we need to carry out its analysis, train personnel. Therefore every season we organize training courses, seminars. I know personally the specialists whom we invite, and I am confident that these people will provide interesting and useful information to members of the Belarusian Fashion House,” Yanina Goncharova noted.

The garment business in Belarus has been rapidly growing thanks to the efforts of small and medium-sized enterprises in different regions of the country, said Piotr Arushanyants, the Director General of the Belarusian Fund of Financial Support of Entrepreneurs. “Potential of these companies is very high. Their products are sold domestically and internationally. They are in demand and competitive. The demand is growing. In our view, the niche taken by Belarusian manufacturers can be expanded. The mission of the fund and our partners is to help realize this potential,” he said.

Belarus Fashion Week will be held at the Belexpo national exhibition center. Expected attendance is more than 10,000 visitors. The goal of Belarus Fashion Week (BFW) is to promote Belarusian manufacturers of designer clothing in the fashion market in Belarus and abroad. BFW will feature new collections of the 2019 spring-summer season from the country's leading brands. BFW traditionally runs programs for children called Kids Fashion Days BFW. Belarus Fashion Week will also display ethnic collections from designers working with Belarusian flax.

The event will feature a joint project of the Belarusian Fashion House and the Belarusian Association of Assistance to Children and Young People with Disabilities “New Opportunities”. The project is meant to give people with disabilities a chance to show themselves in the fashion industry: for several months they were engaged in all phases of the work to create images for the joint spring-summer collection 2019: from generating ideas to tailoring to presentation. The collection will feature a lot of hand-embroidered clothing.
