MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Specialists from the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center of Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology have successfully performed a highly complex multi-component hybrid reconstruction of the arteries of a lower limb, BelTA learned from the Healthcare Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
The uniqueness of the clinical case lies in the simultaneous performance of a full range of open and endovascular procedures during a single surgical session (one-day surgery).
The high-tech intervention was performed in a modern hybrid operating room. This made it possible to combine the advantages of open surgery and X-ray endovascular technologies.
Thanks to the coordinated work of a multidisciplinary team, the target arterial blood flow in the limb was fully restored. The hybrid approach helped minimize surgical trauma, reduce the duration of general anesthesia and lower the risk of postoperative complications for the patient.
