Minsk Oblast to mark Victory anniversary by patriotic campaign

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – The patriotic project “Commemorating the heroism, glorifying the Victory” will be held in Minsk Oblast in the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from Acting First Secretary of the Minsk Oblast Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Alexei Pivovarov.

As part of the project the BRSM activists will arrange patriotic campaigns and contests, youth creativity festivals, thematic exhibitions and other events. On the eve of the Victory Day, the BRSM activists will congratulate all war veterans of Minsk Oblast. Young people will visit veterans and help them with household duties.

The regional youth festival/exhibition ProSVETlenie and the festival of youth subcultures Street Energy have already been held. BRSM will also promote environmental protection initiatives. The youth union is set to hold the following campaigns: “Cleanup will save the world”, “Youth for clean cities and villages”, “Youth for clean rivers and lakes” and others. The campaign “Young residents of Minsk Oblast for good harvest” will be conducted during the harvesting period. The winners of the harvesting competition will be awarded valuable prizes.

Top on the agenda of the BRSM regional committee is secondary employment of the youth. To this end, a database of employers and job seekers is compiled every year in all the districts and towns of the region. In 2014, over 30,000 people were involved in various forms of secondary employment; more than 7,800 of them worked in student construction brigades. “The status of a regional youth construction project was granted to the facilities of the Raubichi sports complex. This year we will give this status to another landmark facility,” Alexei Pivovarov said.

One of the most remarkable events of the Kind Heart volunteer project of the BRSM Youth Union will be the non-stop marathon “All colors of life for you” involving cultural figures and popular artists. All the money raised during this project will be used to provide medical treatment to sick children and help other people in need.

The Minsk Oblast branch of the BRSM Youth Union has 48,000 members.
