Minsk hosting meeting of young diplomats of Belarus, Russia

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – The Association of Young Diplomats of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are holding consultations in Minsk on 2-4 October, BelTA has learned.

Belarus' First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka noted that Belarus-Russia cooperation relies on shared history. “The reality is that we are historically, politically, and socially interconnected,” the first deputy minister of foreign affairs said.

Belarus and Russia are two sovereign states. “Belarus has its own political and economic goals and we defend them in the international arena,” Andrei Yeudachenka said. He also noted that sometimes there are misunderstandings, but bilateral relations remain vibrant.

Andrei Yeudachenka believes that it is important that young diplomats of Belarus and Russia meet to discuss the pressing issues of bilateral cooperation because the youth will build the future of Belarus-Russia relations.

The Association of Young Diplomats of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are holding the consultations for the 3rd time. The goal is to discuss bilateral and international issues with an emphasis on the youth. The participants of the meeting will also discuss the role of the youth movement in achieving the sustainable development goals, cooperation in international forums, and joint campaigns to celebrate common historical dates and events, the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in particular.

The participants of the event will meet with Belarusian MPs, students, and the teaching staff of the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, they will also visit the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, and Wargaming Company.
