Minsk freestyle skiing center to open 27 March

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – The freestyle skiing training center with sports and wellness facilities in Surganova Street in Minsk will be launched in a testing mode on 27 March, director of the center Valentin Ananyev told reporters, BelTA has learned.

Freestyle skiing training center“The center will operate in the testing mode for about a week. As for the prices, they will be about the same as in the Minsk water park Lebyazhy,” said Valentin Ananyev.

The center can accommodate about 500 clients and 200 athletes at one time. According to the director, the center will reach the designed capacity in 2 two 3 months after the opening and will work in three shifts, almost round the clock. In the meantime, the complex is open until 23.00.

Freestyle skiing training centerStudents of the national Olympic sports school already use the center for training. The center also hosted the teams from Switzerland and United States. Valentin Ananyev said that the foreign athletes liked the Minsk freestyle skiing center. "Our center is unique as it is equipped with aerials water ramps. Our pool water is warm, around +28°,” he said.

Freestyle skiing training centerBy the way, the American athletes expressed their willingness to hold a practice session in the center in mid-May. Teams from Russia, Ukraine and China are also willing to come to train here. Starting from 1 April the national teams in synchronized swimming, diving, and freestyle skiing will be training here.

On 25 March the centre was inspected by Deputy Head of the President Administration Igor Buzovsky, aide to the President for physical training, sport and tourism Maksim Ryzhenkov, Assistant to the President - Chief Inspector for the city of Minsk Alexander Yakobson. They noted that the facility is worthy of attention of not only Minskers but also guests Belarus. However, Igor Buzovsky said that there are still some things that need to be finished while the center operates in the testing mode.

Freestyle skiing training centerThe center is divided into three zones: sports, entertainment and wellness. The sports zone will include a 20x30m pool which is 5-meter deep in the jumping zone and 4-meter deep in the freestyle zone, diving facilities and a practice zone for athletes. The entertainment zone features the water park with three swimming pools and more than 20 various attractions, choreography and fitness facilities, a gym, bowling parlor and billiards rooms. The wellness zone includes saunas, an ice room, banyas, pools.
