Minsk Forum of Street Theaters to gather participants from five countries

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Theater companies from Belarus, Germany, Poland, Russia, and Moldova (Transdniestria) will take part in the Minsk Forum of Street Theaters on 6 to 8 May, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The forum will open with the performance Robinsonada by the experimental theater Eye in Svobody Square at 8pm on 6 May. The production was staged specially for the festival.

On 7 May, the participants will take part in a carnival procession that will stretch from the intersection of Nezavisimosti Avenue and Lenina Street to Svobody Square. The closing ceremony of the Minsk Forum of Street Theaters and the award ceremony will be held on 8 May.

The forum is growing year by year. Every new edition welcomes new participants. This year, representing the Belarusian theater movement will be the creative company Workshop of Impressions, street theater Vir, dance theater Reflections, dance theater Altana, creative theater company Living Doll, shadow theater group House of Sun, interactive theater Moustache, experimental theater Eye, and others. Dulce Compania from Berlin, Teatr Na Walizkach from Wroclaw, Knock Knock! from Tiraspol, and creative association Karnavalchik from Saint Petersburg will also take part in the festival.

The program of the forum features over 20 productions, including interactive shows, dance, clown, and stilt performances.

The Minsk Forum of Street Theaters is an annual international festival of street arts founded in 2013. Since its establishment, the forum has become a professional platform for Belarusian street theaters. This is the first and so far the only festival of the kind in Belarus.

The forum is organized by Minsk City Hall, the National Center for Contemporary Arts of Belarus with the assistance of the Belarusian Culture Ministry. Alfa-Bank is the general partner of the festival. The project is held with the support of the Belarusian State Circus, Minskkontsert, the magazine Mastatstva, the German Embassy in Belarus, and the Polish Institute in Minsk.
