Minsk fair to showcase books about Belarus in German

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Books about Belarus in the German language and about the history of Germany will be presented to visitors of the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair to be held from 11 to 15 February, BelTA learned from the Embassy of Germany in Belarus.

The Embassy of the Federative Republic of Germany and the Goethe Institute will organize separate stands at the Minsk International Book Fair.

Books about the German reunification will be the highlight of the exposition, as this year the world celebrates the 25th anniversary of the event. Besides, the stands will feature many editions for children and youth, including bilingual ones in Russian and German.

The stand of the Goethe Institute will be dedicated, first of all, to bilingual editions and textbooks for teachers and students of German.

Traditionally, some of the books presented at the fair will be donated to the Belarusian organizations that have been promoting the German language and culture for many years. This year some bilingual editions and books in German will be sent to school No. 12 and school No. 16 of Mozyr, gymnasium No. 24 and school No. 73 of Minsk, and gymnasium No. 10 of Molodechno.

The program of the international book fair includes the award ceremony of the winners of the competition for school students Lesefuchs. It also features the traditional Children’s Day that has been organized with the participation of German graphic novelist Reinhard Kleist. The artist will hold a workshop at the Minsk Goethe Institute.
