Minsk expands tourism appeal with new hotels, attractions

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - Director of the Information and Tourist Center Minsk Aleksei Rusakevich overviewed Belarus’ capital tourism potential development during a city info stream on 19 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksei Rusakevich noted that over the past five years, Minsk has added 15-16 new hotels, bringing the total number of hotels and similar accommodation facilities to about 85.

Minsk is constantly getting new attractions. In 2025, the Loshitsa Estate and Park Complex was opened. Another new site is the renovated area near the Sports Palace. “The Pishchalovsky Castle is currently undergoing reconstruction and is expected to become another major attraction,” he added. 

A key milestone in business tourism was the opening of the Minsk International Exhibition Center. “In April, Minsk became a hub for business tourism in the CIS, hosting the Big Tourism Week that attracted over a thousand visitors,” he said. Aleksei Rusakevich noted that Minsk consistently ranks among top destinations, as was proved by the May holidays, when hotel rooms were nearly fully booked.

According to him, tourists come to the Belarusian capital from a wide range of countries: China, Türkiye, Lithuania, Latvia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and others. However, nearly 80% of all visitors come from Russia. Around 80% of tourists prefer independent travel, booking accommodation, excursions and events on their own.

Aleksei Rusakevich noted that cultural, educational and gastronomic tourism are among the most popular types. Medical and industrial tourism are also gaining popularity. In 2025, over 70,000 visitors toured Minsk’s industrial enterprises. The average length of stay is also increasing, with tourists now spending up to five days in Minsk.

The most popular spots among visitors include the Upper Town, the National Library, the First National Trading House, Stolitsa shopping center, Victory Park, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, as well as various restaurants.
