BAKU, 11 June (BelTA) – 2008 Olympic bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling Mikhail Semenov has been chosen flag bearer for Belarus at the first European Games in Baku, BelTA informs.

“For me it is a huge honor to carry the flag of the Republic of Belarus at the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Games. Of course, it adds responsibility. All our athletes have come here to win medals and do their best to represent Belarus in a most decent way,” Mikhail Semenov said.

A big delegation of Belarusian athletes arrived in Azerbaijan on 11 June. The rest will come to the capital of the first European Games on 14 June.

The official opening ceremony of the 2015 European Games in Baku will take place at the National Stadium on 12 June at 7pm (Minsk time). The Belarusian national team will comprise representatives of the acrobatics, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, artistic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, table tennis, triathlon, karate.
