Mexican honorary consulate opens in Minsk

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – An honorary consulate of the United Mexican States in Belarus opened in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“The opening of the consulate will contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation and will give an opportunity to the people of the two countries to learn more about each other, about culture, history and traditions of the two nations,” Honorary Consul of Mexico in Belarus Yuri Morozov said.

Mexican Ambassador in Russia and concurrently to Belarus Mr Ruben Alberto Beltran Guerrero emphasized that the relations with Belarus are very important for Mexico. He said that the opening of the Honorary Consulate will enable the two countries to continue to work in three main areas. Such a step will give a greater impetus to the Belarusian-Mexican economic cooperation, especially in trade and investment.

“We would also like to take this moment to tell residents of Minsk and Belarus more about Mexican culture,” the diplomat said. The third area, which is regarded as a priority in the bilateral relations, is tourism. “We would like to see more of our Belarusian friends visit Mexico and take advantage of the opportunities that we offer for holidaying,” the Ambassador said.

“The opening of the honorary consulate shows Mexico’s willingness to develop and deepen its relations with Belarus. On the part of Belarus this is a gesture of hospitality,” the diplomat said.
