Marc Chagall’s works on show in French Tourcoing

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – The exhibition of Marc Chagall’s works, From Palette to Artistry, is on display at Tourcoing, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The exposition showcases tapestry on the motives of Chagall’s lithography and paintings.

At the opening ceremony Mayor of Tourcoing, President of the France-Belarus Group of Friendship of the National Assembly of France Gerald Darmanin underlined the role of Chagall’s creativity for the world culture, noting that the great painter was born in the Belarusian city of Vitebsk. Attending the opening ceremony was also Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko, honorary Senator of the Parliament of France Ivan Renar, Marc Chagall’s granddaughters Meret and Bella Meyer, representatives of the Tourcoing City Hall and the public.

During a meeting Gerald Darmanin and Pavel Latushko discussed the Belarusian-French inter-parliamentary cooperation between the groups of friendship, intensification of contacts between Belarus and France.

Taking into account the agreement signed between the Partizansky District of Minsk and Tourcoing in 2015, agreements were reached to implement further joint projects of twin-town contacts.

Pavel Latushko informed President of the France-Belarus Group of Friendship of the National Assembly of France Gerald Darmanin on the development of trade, economic, and cultural cooperation between Belarus and France, plans on the implementation of joint projects in the economic and humanitarian sectors.
