Lukashenko receives Ukrainian embroidered shirt as gift

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – A traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt created by a famous Ukrainian designer was gifted to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko during the meeting with the representatives of the Ukrainian mass media in Minsk on 26 September, BelTA has learned.

The president’s meeting with the press lasted about three and a half hours. The journalists asked their questions, inquired about the position of Belarus on the key issues on the international and Belarus-Ukraine agenda, and got a first-hand impression of the country and its leader.

“I thank you for coming here, especially those who have been here before. Thank you for supporting the Belarusians and for the high regard for the people of Belarus and me,” the president said as he thanked everyone for the constructive discussion at the end of the meeting.

The participants of the meeting took pictures and exchanged presents. Chief Editor of the Ukraine TV channel, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Yuri Sugak presented an original embroidered shirt to the president. Yuri Sugak is a good acquaintance of the designer Yuliya Magdych.

Many famous people wear outfits designed by Yuliya Magdych. With this gift “we wanted to emphasize the high regard the Ukrainians have for Aleksandr Lukashenko”, Yuri Sugak told the Belarusian press. He noted that people in Belarus and Ukraine wear embroidered shirts. It is another common feature for the culture of the two countries.
