Lukashenko promises free rinks for ice hockey teams in Belarus

Minsk ArenaMINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – Ice hockey rinks will be free of charge for teams in Belarus, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted as he met with the players and the coaching staff of HC Dinamo Minsk on 25 August, BelTA has learned.

“As far as I understand, there have never been any problems with ice rinks. You will get as many of them as you need anytime. We are considering providing them to ice hockey teams for free as a gift from the government. For children’s sports schools and any teams,” Alexander Lukashenko remarked. “Some complain that ice rink rental for training or a game is too expensive. This is why I have come to this decision. Our sports palaces are state-owned. We will provide you and national teams with free ice rinks. If you want to live and train in Raubichi, you are welcome, there is a training center there,” the president said.

“The team will always have an ice rink available for them. If you do not like the ice here, at the Minsk Arena, we will change it. The construction of the Olympic Park will be over in 12 or 18 months. There will be two rinks with perfect ice, one European size, another - the North American one. If you want to train there, you will, although you should train at the venue where you play,” the president added.
